Cicero D’Avila has taught hundreds of students to sculpt in his native Brazil and where he studied marble carving in Pisa, Italy. He is coming to LA for 4 days only on July 27th where he will be conducting a figure sculpting workshop in clay with a special marble sculpting demo on Monday July 30th.
Cicero D’Avila was a student of Arts from the University of Sao Paulo and sculpture in Carrara, Italy, Marble School of Pietro Tacca. In Italy where he lived, studied and worked for a time at major studios, he gained experience in all techniques involved in carving. He specialized in figurative sculpture. With a hyper-realistic work features soft, expressive, technical and creative brings his figurative variants of the classic while modern to this day.
In Italy he developed and executed several works in marble and bronze portraits and monuments as important for Europe and the United States and United Arab Emirates. In China where he was invited to represent Brazil for two consecutive times at international symposiums of sculpture, along with 30 other countries, Cicero D’Avila performed a work of 8 meters and a bronze marble 2.50 respectively. He was selected to participate in the 2008 Biennial Chaco (Artentina) as the sole representative of Brazil, being awarded his “Do not Kill.” He was recently invited to the monument to Mother Theresa of Calcutta marble for the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, the largest cathedral in America.

On Monday, the last day of the workshop, Cicero D’Avila will be sculpting a portrait in Carrara Marble. Students will continue on their own work and observe a master at his work. This will be a very special day and one that you do not want to miss.
Cicero is an accomplished fine art & commercial sculptor hailing from Italy and Brazil where he works fluidly in ZBrush, clay and carrara marble. His four day workshop will be spend the full day sculpting the full figure in clay. On the fourth day, Cicero will also put on a marble carving demonstration.
This class is for those who love sculpting the figure. Cicero will demonstrates how creates award winning commissions and monuments in clay and marble. All levels are welcome. Come as a beginner or as a professional. Assistant teachers will be on hand to help everyone stay on track and grow as artists.This is Cicero’s only workshop in the US this year so make sure you do not miss your chance to study with one of our time’s masters in the grand tradition of sculpting.
